Daily Mass Reading for Thursday, April 3rd 2025

As today is Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Catholic Church observes the Thursday of the Fourth Week of Lent. The Mass readings for today are as follows:

First Reading: Exodus 32:7-14

In this passage, the Lord informs Moses of the Israelites’ idolatry, as they have created and worshiped a golden calf. God expresses His anger and intention to destroy them, but Moses intercedes, reminding God of His promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. Moses’ plea leads the Lord to relent and not bring the threatened disaster upon His people.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 106:19-20, 21-22, 23

Response: “Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.”

This psalm recounts the Israelites’ sin of idol worship at Mount Horeb and God’s merciful response. It serves as a reminder of the importance of faithfulness and the consequences of turning away from God.

Gospel: John 5:31-47

In this Gospel passage, Jesus addresses the Jewish leaders, emphasizing that His testimony is supported by John the Baptist, His works, and the Scriptures. He reproaches them for their lack of belief and understanding, highlighting that their study of the Scriptures should lead them to recognize Him as the Messiah.
