As today is Friday, March 28, 2025, the Catholic Church observes the Friday of the Third Week of Lent. The Mass readings for today are as follows:
First Reading: Hosea 14:2-10
In this passage, the Lord calls Israel to return to Him, promising healing and love. He assures them that His anger has turned away and describes the blessings that will come upon those who repent and follow His ways.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 81:6c-8a, 8bc-9, 10-11ab, 14 and 17
Response: “I am the Lord your God: hear my voice.”
This psalm emphasizes listening to God’s voice and remaining faithful to Him, recalling His deliverance of Israel and expressing His desire for their obedience.
Gospel: Mark 12:28-34
In this Gospel passage, a scribe asks Jesus about the greatest commandment. Jesus responds that the foremost commandment is to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength, and the second is to love one’s neighbor as oneself. The scribe agrees, and Jesus tells him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
