As today is Monday, March 31, 2025, the Catholic Church observes the Monday of the Fourth Week of Lent. The Mass readings for today are as follows:
First Reading: Isaiah 65:17-21
In this passage, the Lord proclaims the creation of new heavens and a new earth, where past troubles are forgotten. Jerusalem is to be a source of joy, and its people will experience gladness and prosperity. The Lord promises that there will no longer be weeping or distress in this renewed creation.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 30:2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b
Response: “I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.”
This psalm expresses gratitude for God’s deliverance from distress and the restoration of life. It acknowledges that, though we may experience hardship, God’s favor and joy ultimately prevail.
Gospel: John 4:43-54
In this Gospel passage, Jesus returns to Galilee, where He is welcomed by the people. A royal official approaches Him, pleading for the healing of his son who is near death. Jesus tells the official, “Go; your son will live.” Trusting in Jesus’ word, the official returns home to find his son healed at the exact time Jesus had spoken. This miracle leads the official and his entire household to believe in Jesus.
