6. Patience and Kindness
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 13:4
- Practice patience and kindness in your interactions with family members, showing humility and gentleness in all situations.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love
Ephesians 4:2
- Cultivate a spirit of humility and understanding, demonstrating patience and forbearance in your relationships.
7. Respect and Honor
Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:12
- Show respect and honour to your parents, recognizing their authority and expressing gratitude for their love and guidance.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10
- Esteem and value each family member, prioritizing their needs and well-being above your own desires.
8. Generosity and Service
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:10
- Seek opportunities to serve one another within your family, using your talents and resources to meet each other’s needs.
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Romans 12:13
- Practice generosity and hospitality, opening your hearts and homes to those in your family and community who are in need.
9. Forgiveness and Reconciliation
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:13
- Choose forgiveness and reconciliation, letting go of grudges and extending grace to those who have hurt you within your family.
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
Matthew 5:23-24
- Prioritize reconciliation and restoration in your relationships, addressing conflicts promptly and seeking resolution through dialogue and humility.
10. Strength and Protection
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Psalm 28:7
- Trust in God’s strength and protection for your family, seeking His guidance and refuge in times of trouble and uncertainty.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Isaiah 40:29
- Lean on God’s strength in challenging times, encouraging each other to persevere and trust in His unfailing support.
