13. You feel you have no control over your life.
Even if you feel that you’ve found your purpose, you might feel unable to change your circumstances. You might not know which direction to turn, or how to turn your dreams into reality. You feel powerless to change your life, even though you want nothing more than to do so.
14. You feel that you don’t belong anywhere.
You want to belong somewhere but haven’t found your place yet. In times of soul death, we start to feel vulnerable and lost, and seek comfort and safety. Feeling this way requires us to take a long hard look at our souls in order to find out what we want the most, and find the courage to go after it. Once we follow our hearts, our souls will begin to come alive again, and we will feel part of something bigger.
15. You constantly feel tired.
Not just physically; mentally, too. You can’t quite pinpoint the cause, but you just know that your soul is tired, and no amount of sleep can cure it. The neverending drain of daily life is starting to wear on you, and your soul longs for an escape.
Final thoughts
Whether we realize it or not, we all go through many soul deaths and rebirths throughout our lives. Changing jobs, cities, and lives are all forms of soul death and rebirth, as you leave behind something that didn’t work for you any longer and embrace something that you hope will make you feel a little more whole.
If you take away nothing else from this article, please remember this: life is too short to be unhappy, so if your soul needs a little rejuvenating, please listen to your heart and do what it longs for. You might lose parts of yourself in the process, but you will gain back so much more of yourself that you didn’t even know existed.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
As we gather before You, we humbly acknowledge Your presence in our midst. You are the source of all life, the giver of every good and perfect gift. Today, we come before You with open hearts, seeking Your guidance and Your grace as we reflect on the state of our spiritual being.
Lord, we confess that amidst the chaos of daily life, we often neglect the care of our souls. We become distracted by worldly pursuits, consumed by the desires of the flesh, and blinded to the needs of our spirits. Forgive us, O God, for the times we have allowed our spiritual selves to wither and decay.
Grant us, O Lord, the wisdom to recognize the signs of spiritual death or dying in our lives. Open our eyes to see where we have strayed from Your path, where we have neglected Your Word, and where we have forsaken the fellowship of Your people. Help us to confront our shortcomings with courage and humility, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for our every need.
Father, we ask that You would revive our spirits with the breath of Your Holy Spirit. Breathe new life into our souls, O God, and awaken us to the beauty of Your presence. Renew within us a hunger for Your Word, a thirst for Your righteousness, and a passion for Your kingdom.
Guide us, O Lord, in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Lead us away from temptation and deliver us from evil. Help us to walk in the footsteps of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who showed us the way to abundant life through His death and resurrection.
Fill us, O God, with Your love and Your joy. May Your Spirit dwell richly within us, transforming us from the inside out. Let Your light shine brightly through us, illuminating the darkness and drawing others into Your glorious kingdom.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and Your unfailing love. May this time of prayer be a catalyst for spiritual renewal and revival in our lives. May we emerge from this sacred moment with hearts aflame for You, ready to live lives that honor and glorify Your holy name.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
